Combining households was the challenge for these newly weds.
This new couple chose to live in his expanded cape in the Berkshires. This charming home has been in his family for several generations. Her former home was an antique in itself and had been lovingly furnished over several decades. Her collection in its entirety would never have fit in his house while the formality it presented would have been overwhelming in the new setting. Together, we made careful selections that brought in her most beloved pieces along with those that added the most in practicality and style.
By carefully studying the items both parties had, understanding how they liked to live, and taking the characteristics of the house into play, a plan for merging the two households was developed. Itemized moving lists were prepared to make the process easier for everyone involved.
